BMW R 80 GS PARIS DAKAR



The BMW R 80 GS Paris Dakar is a special model derived from the BMW R 80 GS, created with the express purpose of celebrating the four sporting successes of the House in the famous Paris-Dakar raid African, BMW won in 1981, 1982, 1984, 1985 . In particular, the last two victories were achieved by the Belgian rider Gaston Rahier, who want to have the honor to autograph the reservoir of that version in an authentic way (today there is a decal on the market that faithfully reproduces the autograph, but the original is something else .. .). The version differs with respect to the standard for some details, including:

The differences with the BMW R 80 GS are as follows:

a) fuel tank increased to 32 liter capacity and autographed by G.Rahier,

b) short car seat has a sturdy luggage rack (series was provided in the saddle long two-seater)

c) lack of side panels,

d) chrome muffler with black backing,

e) rear fender white













Gaston Rahier began his career in motocross world championship in 1968 in the 500 class and then became world champion in the 125 Motocross, a new institution in the world, with a Suzuki RM 125, in the period that goes from 1975 to 1977. After having had to end his career due to a serious accident which occurred in 1982, he devoted himself to the grueling races in Africa as the Dakar Rally which he won twice, in 1984 and 1985 aboard a BMW R 80 GS.
